Role Description

Supervises and coordinates activities of nursing personnel on each unit, on an assigned shift, promoting high quality of care. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for coordination and delivery of patient care in accordance with professional standards of practice through physician orders, center policies and procedures, and federal, state and local guidelines. Responsible for the supervision of all licensed and non-licensed personnel, who provide health care and nursing services, on an assigned shift. 


Overall Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary safety resource t seven days per week, 365 days per year for any events occurring during the shift for which the supervisor is responsible that require the immediate attention of facility management.
  • Ensures that the facility is consistently operating with the appropriate and safe staffing levels, during the shift for which the supervisor is responsible.
  • Delivers personalized nursing care that meets or exceeds the health needs of each patient.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply universal safety precautions and infection control procedures
  • Ability to asses and problem solve, effectively, independently, and rapidly
  • Communicates with Chief Nursing Officer or designee regarding pertinent issues related to each unit (Example: falls, infections, negative outcomes, change in condition, per occurrence events, grievances, etc.).
  • Evaluates, directly supervises, and writes performance plans for designated staff on assigned shift and communicates with department managers as indicated.
  • Conducts on-the-job training as necessary and coordinates workflow to best suit the needs of the residents.
  • Participates in the admission process as assigned.
  • Acts as a resource for nursing staff. Attends licensed staff meetings and monthly management meetings.
  • Monitors and ensures that clinical processes are completed and reported per policy and procedure.
  • Promotes positive public relations with patients, patient, family members and guests.
  • Use appropriate work place behavior and adhere to dress code at all
  • Nursing supervisor to assume staff nurse assignment as needed

What we’re looking for

  • Valid RN state licensure from an accredited college
  • Current CPR certification
  • Three plus years of experience as an RN in a high volume, fast paced patient care setting
  • Excellent communication skills with a hospitality mind-set
  • Proficient with computers and documentation and ability to use automated processes
